Shayna Strom is a senior fellow at The Century Foundation, where she works on issues related to the future of work, future of organizing, poverty, and inequality. She is also a lecturer at Johns Hopkins University, teaching classes on “Making Social Change.” She has worked with several prominent foundations and spent a number of years in government, serving as chief of staff and senior counselor at the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA); as advisor to the director of the White House Office of Management and Budget; and as judiciary committee counsel to Senator Al Franken. Previously, she did organizing work in Ohio, New York, and New Jersey. In her spare time, she was a founding senior editor and writer for Next City, a nonprofit journalistic outlet about cities. She has a law degree from Yale Law School and an M.Sc. from Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar.
