Congressman George Miller is a TCF trustee who spent forty years in Congress representing California’s 7th and 11 districts (1975 to 2015). During his distinguished career in Congress he championed legislation to expand education opportunities, strengthen worker protections, promote a cleaner environment, and expand access to health care. Miller was the chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee from 2006 until 2011, and was a chief sponsor of a number of landmark bills, including the Affordable Care Act, the Higher Education Reconciliation Act that led to the single largest investment in higher education ever, the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007, and the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. He helped win passage of the historic Individual with Disabilities Education Act, and NCLB.
Miller is currently a senior education adviser for the Boston-based educational technology and services company, Cengage Learning. He has a BA in political science from San Francisco State University and JD from the University of California Davis School of Law.
