Beth Osborne is the vice president for technical assistance at Transportation for America, a nationwide alliance of elected, business, and civic leaders in favor of smart, home-grown, locally driven transportation solutions. Previously, she was acting assistant secretary for transportation policy and the deputy assistant secretary for transportation policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation, where she managed the TIGER Discretionary Grant program and the secretary’s livability initiative; developed of the administration’s surface transportation authorization and the implementation of the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21); and served as the lead on freight, safety, energy and environment policy. Before joining USDOT, she worked for Senator Tom Carper (DE) as the legislative assistant for transportation, trade, and labor policy, including work on SAFETEA-LU and the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. Previously, she worked as the policy director for Smart Growth America and as legislative director for environmental policy at the Southern Governors’ Association.
