The mixed economy was the most important social innovation of the twentieth century, allowing the U.S. and other prospering democracies to channel the spirit of capitalism into strong growth and healthy social development.
But according to Jacob Hacker and Paul Pierson’s new book, American Amnesia, as power has become more concentrated in the hands of the country’s wealthy, the very instrument that brought America prosperity is now at risk of being scrapped and neglected.
On Thursday, March 31, join The Century Foundation and New America for a conversation on how to reignite the engine of America’s prosperity by borrowing lessons from the past.
